TipStack Privacy Policy
This policy applies to the Android app TipStack (package name: com.youtuzhian.tips.markdown). Replace every TODO with real information and have this page reviewed by your legal or compliance owner before publishing.
1. How We Handle Your Data
TipStack is a local-first Markdown library app. The current version does not require account registration or sign-in, does not include ads or analytics SDKs, and does not actively upload your documents to our servers.
Markdown documents and folders that you create, import, or edit in the app are stored locally on your device by default. When you export a PDF, export a Markdown file, or use Android system sharing, the selected file may be processed by the location or third-party app you choose.
2. Types of Data Stored or Accessed
- Document content: Markdown or text content that you create or import.
- Document metadata: titles, folders, creation time, update time, last opened time, and export-related filenames.
- App preferences: local settings such as the selected reading theme.
This data is used to provide library management, reading, editing, search, and export features.
3. File Import and Export
When you import or export files, the app uses the Android system file picker. The app reads or writes a file only after you actively select a file or save location.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information and do not actively share your document content with third parties. The following cases are not considered active sharing by us:
- You export a file to a local folder, cloud drive folder, or another app.
- You use Android system sharing to send a document to another app or contact.
- Information is required by applicable law, regulation, court order, or government authority.
5. System Backup
The current version allows Android system backup for app data. Depending on your device settings, app data may be backed up by Android or Google backup services and restored when you change or restore a device. This backup process is controlled by the operating system and account service provider.
If you do not want documents to be included in system backup, you can disable the relevant backup setting in Android system settings or delete documents before running a device backup.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Documents remain on your device until you delete them in the app, delete their containing folder, clear app data, or uninstall the app. The current version does not provide an account system, so there is no cloud account deletion flow.
7. Children's Privacy
TipStack is a general productivity tool and is not directed to children. If you are a minor, use the app with guidance from a parent or guardian.
8. Security
We rely on Android app sandboxing and system file authorization mechanisms to help protect local data. However, local devices may still be exposed to risks such as malware, rooted systems, system vulnerabilities, device loss, or unauthorized access. Please keep your device and system account secure.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when app features, data practices, or legal requirements change. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
